Warriors fall to Crusaders, 2-0, in Commonwealth opener

READING, Pa. –
Kyle Martyn posted two assists, one in each half, to help lift Alvernia University to a 2-0 win over the Lycoming College men’s soccer team in the Commonwealth Conference opener on Saturday, Oct. 1.
 
Freshman keeper Connor Keenan (Exton, Pa./Downingtown East) posted six saves in the match to lead the Warriors (5-5-1 overall, 0-1 Commonwealth), as he saw 20 shots in the match.
 
Lycoming took 11 shots, with the Crusaders (7-2-1 overall, 1-0 Commonwealth) getting four saves from Ben Diller in the shutout.
 
Erik Franks scored the first goal in the 22nd minute and E.J. Logan added the second tally in the 74th, as Martyn assisted with both goals.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Friday, Oct. 7 when they face Widener at the home of the MLS’ Philadelphia Union, PPL Park, at 8 p.m.
