Box Score WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Sophomore #Matt Snively# (Hollywood, Pa./Leonardtown) doubled his career goals total on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 12, as the forward scored twice to help the Lycoming College men’s soccer team to a 3-0 win over Pitt-Bradford at the Shangraw Athletic Complex in non-conference action.
Snively took little time to get the Warriors (3-2 overall) on the board, as he drove into the goalbox before being tackled to draw a penalty kick just 75 seconds into the match. He fired the resulting penalty kick into the left corner.
The Warriors held a 22-6 advantage in shots in the game, and that advantage helped them put another shot into the back of the net in the 32nd minute, as sophomore #Dominick Dorsey# (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) fired a pass downfield to sophomore Charlie Vess (Park Hill, Md./Great Mills), who crossed it through the goalbox to senior #Brad Houseknecht# (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley), who lifted a shot into the open right side of the net.
In the second half, the Warriors kept pressure on, taking 15 shots in the period and Snively struck again in the 76th minute, as sophomore #Jimmy Deasel# (Kingsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) fed Snavely, who deposited a shot high into the center of the net from 15 yards out.
Adam Forster had a solid day in net for the Panthers (0-3-1 overall), as he made eight saves in the contest. Toby Abdul-Razaq took three shots to lead the team.
Sophomore James Quinn (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) earned the win, as he played 45 minutes before yielding to freshman #Timmy Ostermeyer# (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake), who made two saves to preserve the Warriors’ second shutout of the year, for the last 45 minutes.
Lycoming heads to Franklin & Marshall for a non-conference tilt on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
