Warriors draw regionally-ranked Alvernia, 0-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Despite outshooting the Mid-Atlantic Region's eighth-ranked Alvernia, the Lycoming College women's soccer team had to settle for a 0-0 draw on Saturday in Commonwealth Conference action at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.

The draw brings the Warriors to 7-5-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Commonwealth Conference while Alvernia goes to 11-2-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the league.

Lycoming finished with a 17-8 advantage in shots including outshooting the Crusaders, 4-1, in overtime but couldn't find a finishing touch. The Warriors were led by senior Kaitlin Horn (Ringtown, Pa./North Schuylkill), who had five shots and senior Kati Shaner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville), who had three shots.

For Alvernia, Felicia Sippel had three shots and Amy Mesce had two.

Freshman Caitlin Dougherty (Douglasville, Pa./Daniel Boone) made two saves in her second shutout. Kirsten Kelley made five saves for Alvernia.

The Warriors stay at home this week as Commonwealth Conference foe Lebanon Valley makes a visit to the Shangraw Athletic Complex for a 3:30 p.m. match on Tuesday, Oct. 19.
