Warriors fall in heartbreaker, 1-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Alvernia's Kyle Martyn scored in the 86th minute to hand a 1-0 heartbreaking defeat to the Lycoming College men's soccer team in Commonwealth Conference game on Saturday at the Shangraw Athletic Complex. The Warriors fall to 6-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the Commonwealth. Alvernia goes to 8-5-1 overall and 2-1 in Commonwealth action.

Kyle Martyn's goal came on an assist by Morgan Davidheiser. Alvernia had six shots total for the game, while Lycoming fired 15. The Warriors offense was led by sophomores Matt Snively (Hollywood, Md./Leonardtown) who had five shots and Jimmy Deasel (Kingsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) who had three shots.

Sophomore James Quinn (Tonawanta, N.Y./Kenmore East) had three saves in 90 minutes for the Warriors. Drew Gilbert posted a shutout with two saves in 90 minutes for Alvernia.

The Warriors stay at home this week as they welcome Commonwealth Conference foe Lebanon Valley into the Shangraw Athletic Complex for a 3:30 p.m. match on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
