Warriors fall at No. 10/3 Messiah, 5-0

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Five different Messiah College players scored goals as the No. 10/3 Falcons downed the Lycoming College men’s soccer team, 5-0, on Wednesday night in Commonwealth Conference action. The Warriors fell to 6-7-1 overall and 0-2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference and the Falcons improved to 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the Commonwealth.

Geoff Pezon, Drew Frey, Sheldon Myer, Nick Thompson and Sam Woodworth scored for the Falcons, as they scored twice in the first half and three times in the second.

Sophomore James Quinn (Tonawanda, N.Y./Kenmore East) made eight saves in 63 minutes in net for the Warriors, and freshman Timmy Ostermeyer (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake) made one save in the final 27, as the Falcons outshot the Warriors, 32-3.

Jake Berry stopped two shots in the shutout for the Falcons.

The Warriors return home for Homecoming this weekend, as Commonwealth Conference foe Alvernia will come to the Shangraw Athletic Complex for a 12 p.m. match. Before the match, each of Lycoming’s four seniors, Scott Hordis (Ivyland, Pa./Archbishop Wood), Brad Houseknecht (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley), Joe Karslo (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills Regional) and Norm Rogers (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) will be recognized in a short ceremony as part of Senior Day.
