WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
--- Junior forward Kati Shaner scored all three of Lycoming’s goals, including an equalizer and game-winner to give Lycoming College women’s soccer team a 3-2 overtime victory against Baptist Bible College on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The win improves Lycoming to a 4-4-1 overall record, while Baptist Bible slides to 4-4 on the season.

Shaner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) opened the scoring 21:50 into the match. Her goal was a matter of being in the right place at the right time after picking up a rebounded shot by junior Victoria Michael (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville). Baptist Bible knotted the score at one all ten minutes later, sending the teams tied into halftime.

The Defenders jumped up 2-1 towards the end of the second half at 75:30. The Warriors battled back, putting every shot on cage, but were met by Baptist Bible goalkeeper Melanie Williams, who made 11 saves on day.

Lycoming finally evened the score at 86:20 after senior midfielder Sammi Jo Bell (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) was fouled in the penalty box, allowing Shaner to score the ensuing penalty kick. The teams each took some time on offense, but neither squad could find the goal, forcing the overtime.

Shaner snapped the tie and won the game 96:38 into the match after freshman midfielder Lindsay Schilling (Woodbine, Md./South Carroll) sent in a cross from deep in the Defenders’ territory.
