WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- Senior Milvana Ban finished her career on top, taking first in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:14.19 on Sunday, Feb. 15 at the 2009 Middle Atlantic Conference Swimming Championships. As a team, the Lycoming College women's team finished third overall, while the men finished fourth
Fellow senior Nichole Zoller finished fourth in the same event, in a time of 2:17.82 and grabbing 15 points. Sophomore Stacy Flick touched the wall second in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 2:29.71 and earning 17 team points.
Freshman Claire Zido wrapped up her rookie campaign with an eighth place finish, navigating the 1,650-yard freestyle event in 19:26.14. The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Flick, Amy Bentz, Zoller and Ban came in fourth, dropping five seconds off of its seed time, finishing in 3:48.36.
In the men’s events, freshman Joe Andrie continued to swim strong, finishing his 200-yard breaststroke event in a time of 2:17.56 and earning fifth place and breaking the oldest swimming record at the College. Senior Brian Fausel finished in third place in the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 2:03.23.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team, made up of Chad Lemmons, Sean Berrier, John Doughtery and Brandon Good completed its race in 3:23.35, good enough for a fifth place finish and 28 team points. In the 1,650-yard freestyle, Lycoming was able to eighth and ninth with Myles Biggs finishing in 17:39.87 and Dave Zablocki in 17:51.31.
