Women's soccer drops tough 2-1 battle with Misericordia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The Lycoming College women’s soccer team fell in a tough 2-1 battle with cross-conference opponent Misericordia University on Wednesday Oct. 7. Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Powers made three stops on the day.
 
The Cougars struck first in the fifth minute as Misericordia’s Kim Suchoski made a runaway play and went one-on-one with the Powers (Dover, Pa./Dover Area). Lycoming evened the score with just over a minute left in the first half as Kati Shaner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) blasted a shot from outside the Misericordia penalty box, burying the ball in the top right corner.
 
Both teams went into halftime with one tally on the board.
 
Suchoski broke the tie in the 55th minute on another break away. The Cougars rode out the 2-1 lead until the final horn of the game.
 
Lycoming took ten shots on the day, led by senior midfielder Sammi Jo Bell (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade) with 10. Shaner took two shots, putting one on goal.
 
The Lady Warriors are on the road for their next game when the travel to Arcadia University on Saturday, Oct. 10. The match is set to begin at noon.
