Women's soccer falls to No. 1 Messiah 8-0

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.
--- The Lycoming College women’s soccer team held No. 1 Messiah College to 19 shots, but fell by a score of 8-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Entering the match, the Falcons averaged 24.5 shots per game.
 
The loss drops the Lady Warriors to 7-9-1 overall and 1-4 in the Commonwealth Conference. Messiah improves to 14-0-1 on the season and 4-0 in the conference.
 
Messiah started the scoring early, posting five goals in the first half, and continued in the second half with an additional three goals.
 
Three different Lycoming players took shots, including one shot on goal apiece from Hallie Weakland (Corning, N.Y./Corning Painted Post) and Samantha Jo Bell (Maple Shade, N.J./Maple Shade). Forward Kaitlin Horn (Ringtown, Pa./North Schuylkill) also registered one shot.
 
In goal, Lycoming split time between sophomore Chelsea Powers and senior Brie Pepe. Powers (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) started the game and made four saves while Pepe (Lafayette, N.J./High Point Regional) added one save.
 
Lycoming returns to action for its final home game of the season on Saturday, Oct. 24 when it hosts Albright College. The game is set to begin at 3 p.m.
