WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Sophomore goalkeeper Chelsea Powers made 10 saves on 21 shots as Lycoming College fell 2-0 in a hard-fought game to Elizabethtown College on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
The loss drops Lycoming to 6-8-1 overall and 0-3 in the Commonwealth Conference, while the Blue Jays are now 6-7 on the season and 2-1 in the league.
Elizabethtown’s took advantage of an early corner kick, scoring in the seventh minute of the match. Both teams played physical soccer for the rest of the first half, with Lycoming going into the break, down 1-0.
The Blue Jays scored an insurance goal in the 53 minute to seal Lycoming’s fate, 2-0.
Lycoming’s offense was paced by Kati Shaner (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) who took two shots, placing both of them on goal. Powers (Dover, Pa./Dover Area) made four saves in the first half and an additional six in the second.
The Lady Warriors are on the road this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Alvernia for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
