Swim teams sweep Lebanon Valley

Milvana BanANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s and women’s swimming programs swept Lebanon Valley on Saturday, Jan. 17, marking the third-straight win against Middle Atlantic Conference opponents for each squad.

The men’s team earned a 146-107 victory and the women came out with a 141-88 win.

Both teams opened the meet with wins in the 200-meter medley relay. The women’s foursome of Stephanie Conrad, Stacy Flick, Jessie Gallagher and Caroline LeHota placed first with a time of 2:14.23 and the men’s team of Mark Fries, Joe Andrie, Brian Fausel and Chad Lemmons followed that with a time of 1:57.43.

Lycoming swept the 800-meter freestyle event with Claire Zido (10:45.52) claiming first for the women and Myles Biggs (10:05.81) winning the men’s race.

The first-place finishes kept coming in the 200-meter freestyle with Meg Emery (2:22.34) winning the women’s race and John Dougherty (2:14.29) claiming the men’s.

Nichole Zoller swam to a first-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:13.50.

Flick returned to the pool in the 100-meter breaststroke, winning the race with a time of 1:18.18. Andrie was victorious on the men’s side, finishing in 1:11.82.

The sweeps continued in the 200-meter butterfly, with Milvana Ban (2:45.99) winning the women’s race and Fausel (2:27.83) taking the men’s.

LeHota (29.75) and Fries (26.11) continued Lycoming’s winning ways with victories in the 50-meter freestyle.

Flick (1:06.03) and Dougherty (58.15) claimed first-place finishes in the 100-meter freestyle.

Emery picked up her second win with a time of 2:37.77 in the 200-meter backstroke and the Lady Warriors exhibitioned the remaining events.

Andrie and Dougherty each picked up one more win for the men before the Warriors exhibitioned the remaining events. Andrie won the 200-meter breaststroke in 2:40.45 and Dougherty claimed the 400-meter freestyle in 4:51.89.

The wins improve the Lycoming men to 5-3 in dual meets this season and improve the women to 6-2. Earlier in the week, both teams defeated King’s and FDU-Florham in a tri-meet.

The Warriors return home tomorrow, Jan. 18, for a 12 p.m. meet against Ursinus.
