WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Stacy Flick and Joe Andrie broke school records in the 100-yard breaststroke, but it was not enough as Misericordia swept Lycoming in a swim meet on Thursday, Nov. 20. The men fell 106-99 with the women dropping the meet by a score of 125-80.
Flick (Easton, Pa.) shattered the school record in the 100- breast with a winning time of 1:07.64. Her time was just .07 seconds off the NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:07.57. The previous record of 1:08.55 was set by Steph Kudrick in 2005.
Andrie, a freshman from Reedsville, Pa., broke the men’s record in the same event with a second-place finish in a time of 1:02.96. The previous record of 1:03.73 was set by Chris Mungo in 2005.
The men’s team picked up three individual wins and one relay win.
Brian Fausel (Burdett, N.Y.) claimed the top-spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.53 seconds. Mark Fries (Waynesboro, Pa.) won the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 58.59 seconds and Dave Zablocki (Joppa, Md.) finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:17.57.
Fries teamed with John Dougherty (Mountain Top, Pa.), Sean Berrier (Hughesville, Pa.) and Chad Lemmons (Boiling Springs, Pa.) to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:33.17.
The women’s team got wins in four individual events.
Flick led the way with her record-setting performance in the breaststroke and also picked up a win in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 55.94 seconds.
Stephanie Conrad (Enolda, Pa.) won the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best performance of 1:03.67 and Claire Zido (Pittsburgh, Pa.) claimed the top spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:36.92.
The Lycoming men drop to 2-3 this season while Misericordia’s men improve to 3-2. The Lady Warriors fall to 3-2 while the Lady Cougars improve to 4-2.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will travel to the College of Wooster Invitational from Dec. 4-6, in Wooster, Ohio.
