Lady Warriors drop close game at Misericordia

Victoria MichaelDALLAS, Pa. – Lycoming held the lead twice but Misericordia netted two second half goals to seal a 3-2 victory against the Lady Warriors on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at Misericordia.

Lycoming (3-4-3) got on the board first when Kaitlin Horn (Ringtown, Pa.) scored a goal off an assist from Bekah Shipe (Northumberland, Pa.) in the 15th minute.

The Cougars tied the game at 1-1 on a Jenica Keister goal in the 36th minute.

Victoria Michael (Hughesville, Pa.) put the Lady Warriors back on top, 2-1, with an unassisted marker in the 59th minute.

Misericordia responded with two goals in less than three minutes, scoring in the 66th and 69th minutes to regain the lead, 3-2.

Brie Pepe (Lafayette, N.J.) was credited with the loss in goal, her first of the season, after registering two saves in the game.

The Cougars outshot the Lady Warriors 17-9 in total shots and held a 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. Shots on goal were even at 5-5.

With the loss, Lycoming drops to 3-4-3 overall and remains at 0-0-1 in the Commonwealth Conference.

The Lady Warriors will travel to Albright on Saturday, Oct. 11, for a conference match at 4 p.m.
