Men's soccer blanks Arcadia in Commonwealth opener

Mike CoatesWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men's soccer team recorded a 4-0 shutout win against Arcadia University on Saturday, Oct. 4. The game was the Commonwealth Conference opener for each school.

The Warriors (7-3-1, 1-0-0) got on the board in the tenth minute when Chris Lorenzet (Forest Hill, Md.) netted his eighth goal of the season off an assist from Mike Coates (Washington, N.J.).

Arcadia settled in and held Lycoming out of the net until the 43rd minute when Joe Pusateri (Rockville, Md.) scored on an assist from Lorenzet. The goal was his third in the last two games.

Over 40 minutes passed before Coates added an insurance goal in the 84th minute off an assist from Matt Frey (Greensboro, Md.).

Freshman Randon Wilston (Mainesburg, Pa.) finished the scoring with his second goal of the season in the final minute of play. Lorenzet was credited with his second assist of the game.

Lycoming outshoot Arcadia 19-6 and held a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal. Corner kicks were even at three for each team.

David Bald (Annapolis, Md.) was credited with the win and his fifth shutout of the seasonafter recording two saves in the game.

The Warriors will continue the Commonwealth schedule on Saturday, Oct. 11, at Albright. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
