Men’s soccer stays unbeaten in Commonwealth Conference

LorenzetREADING, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s soccer team remained undefeated in the Commonwealth Conference with a 2-0 shutout against Albright on Saturday, Oct. 11, in Reading, Pa. Chris Lorenzet scored both of the Warriors goals.

Lycoming (8-3-1, 2-0-0 Commonwealth) outshot Albright (3-7-0, 0-2-0 Commonwealth) 13-5 and held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal.

After nearly 70 scoreless minutes, the Warriors got on the board at 69:09 when Lorenzet (Forest Hill, Md.) scored off an assist from Matt Frey (Greensboro, Md.).

Lorenzet would add an insurance goal in the final minute off an assist from Kyle Welsh (North Wales, Pa.) to seal the win.

David Bald (Annapolis, Md.) earned the win in goal after recording two saves.

Albright held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks in the match.

The Warriors will travel to Elizabethtown on Wednesday, Oct. 15, for a 7 p.m. Commonwealth match.

 

Notes: The Warriors have eight wins on the season and seven shutouts …  Lorenzet’s goals were his team-leading ninth and tenth goals … he leads the team with 27 points … Frey’s assist was his third of the year and 25th of his career … he ranks second all-time in career assists (Jeff Kocher, 34) … Bald’s shutout was his seventh of the season … that ranks him second all-time in shutouts in a season (Jason Fesler had nine in 2003) … Bald’s record in goal is 8-2-1.
