After becoming the first Warrior singles player to reach the MAC Individual Championship semifinals in five years, senior Rob Smith has earned his third career Warrior of the Week award and second of the season. As the No. 4 seed, Smith was the lone Warrior to advance out of the first round in 2017, as he defeated Eastern's Karl Finkbeiner in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 and Stevenson's Wornden Ly, 7-5, 6-3, in the quarterfinals on Saturday. In the first set against Ly, Smith was behind 5-4 and facing two set points down 15-40, but he came back to win that game as well as the next two to earn the 7-5 first-set win. He fell in the semifinals to the No. 1 seed, 6-1, 6-3 on Sunday. Smith is 29-19 in his career in singles play, which is sixth in the school's record book. He is 6-3 this season.
