From the time she stepped foot on campus, it was clear that Cricket Temple was a different type of tennis player. From that first season, when the Picture Rocks, Pa., native went 14-0 overall and claimed the women’s program’s only MAC Individual Championship with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Drew’s Brecken Durham, she left an indelible stamp on the Warriors. A decade after her 2002 graduation, Temple is still the program’s all-time leader in just about every category possible after playing every single match of her career in the No. 1 singles and doubles slot. Her 49 career singles wins and .891 winning percentage top the chart, while her 37 doubles wins and .881 percentage in that arena are both second. Her overall career record of 86-11 is also the best in school history. She kept the Warriors at the forefront of the Freedom League, as the team posted a 34-8 overall record and a 20-4 mark in the conference, finishing first in the league standings twice. Along the way, she earned three first-team all-conference honors and two Freedom League Player of the Year awards in 2000 and 2002 to match her individual title in 1999. She was inducted into the Lycoming College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009.
