By clinching the match that helped the Warriors set a new school record for Commonwealth Conference wins in a season, sophomore Adriana Rivera has earned her first Warrior of the Week honors. Down a break in the third set, Rivera got a break herself before gutting out a 7-5 third-set win to clinch a 5-4 win over Alvernia. She fell behind in the No. 6 singles match to Katherine Ghiorzi, falling in the first set, 4-6 before coming back to post a 6-1 win in the second. In the third set, Rivera was broken by Ghiorzi in the first game and fell behind, 2-0, before coming back with three straight wins. Each player grittily held their serve from there before, with a 6-5 lead, Rivera won four straight points on Ghiorzi’s serve to clinch the win. She also teamed with Kathy Jacobs to add an 8-5 win over Ghiorzi and Brittany Veith at No. 3 doubles.
