ADA, Ohio – Seniors Johnathan Secor (Pompton Lakes, N.J./Pompton Lakes) and Greg Wetzel (Pleasant Valley, N.Y./Arlington) finished in third and fourth-place respectively, at 174 and 184 pounds to lead a group of five wrestlers that placed to help the Lycoming College wrestling team to a seventh-place finish at the 12-team Ohio Northern University Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 7.
 
Freshmen 149-pounder Seth Lansberry (Klingerstown, Pa./Line Mountain) and 157-pounder Nolan Barger (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield Area) each finished fifth and junior Brian Watkins (Bear Gap, Pa./Southern Columbia) added a seventh-place finish.
 
Olivet, ranked 13^th by the NWCA, won the tournament title with 155.5 points. NAIA Lindsey Wilson finished second with 145 and Heidelberg, ranked 28^th, finished third with 126 points. 29^th-ranked Alma took fourth with 112.5 points and Division II West Liberty State took fifth with 103.5. Waynesburg, ranked 17^th by d3wrestle.com, was sixth at 92.5 points, while the Warriors finished seventh with 74.5 points, ahead of Thiel, ranked 27^th, which finished with 71.0.
 
Secor reached 10 wins on the season with a 6-1 day, as the 174-pounder dropped a 7-5 decision in the opening round to Olivet's Connor Sharp, but rebounded with a dominating performance for the rest of the tournament. He posted a fall in 1:59 against Waynesburg's Ryan Mayfield, a tech fall against freshman Frank Rodriguez (Asbury Park, N.J./Neptune) and advanced into the placing rounds with an injury default. He moved into the consolation semifinals with a 2-0 win over Thiel's Tyler Wilkes, then posted a 3-1 sudden-victory win over Heidelberg's Brennan Kelly and used a third-period takedown to win the third-place bracket against Ohio Northern's Tyler Gargano, who is mentioned in the honorable mention portion of the d3wrestle.com rankings.
 
Wetzel opened his tournament run with a  pair of wins en route to a 5-2 day that gives him a season record of 12-6 at 184 pounds. He notched a 4-1 win over Trent Kiesling and an 11-6 win over Mt. St. Joseph's Tyler Ray before he dropped a decision to seventh-ranked Jeff Holm in the quarterfinals. He rebounded with an 8-2 win over Ohio Northern's Dillon Brancheau and posted a 10-1 major decision win over Kiesling in the consolation quarterfinals. He added a 4-1 win over Heidelberg's Richard Dowdley before he was pinned in the third-place match.
 
Lansberry ran his record to 14-3 on the season with a  4-2 performance en route to a fifth-place finish. He opened the tournament with a  16-1 technical fall against Heidelberg's Ryan Veliz, but fell in the quarterfinals to Olivet's Gage Pederson, who went on to win the tournament. In the consolation bracket, he posted a fall in 1:32 to down Olivet's Lake Bennett and added a 7-1 win over Ohio Northern's Steven Feucht to reach the consolation semifinals, where he dropped an 8-4 decision to Division II grappler Art Hobley of West Liberty State.
 
Barger improved to 11-6 on the season by posting a 4-2 effort en route to a fifth-place finish at 157 points. He began the tournament with an 8-3 win over Olivet's Jacob Gould before falling to Waynesburg's Luke Lohr, 10-3. He rebounded in the consolation bracket, posting a 6-3 win over Alma's Caleb Huff and also added a 3-2 win over teammate Watkins to reach the consolation semifinals, where he lost to West Liberty's Bryan Skoff, 2-0. In the fifth-place match, he came from behind thanks to a third-period escape and takedown to post a 3-2 win over Heidelberg's Brian Brunner.
 
Watkins ran his season record to 8-5, as he recovered from an opening round loss to place seventh. After a defaulted match, Watkins notched a 6-1 win over Waynesburg's Matt Johnston and added a 4-2 win over Thiel's Sean Byham before dropping a match to Barger in the consolation quarterfinals. However, he posted a 4-2 win in the seventh-place match against West Liberty State's DeMadre Turner to round out his day.
 
Several other Warriors had strong days, with junior 141-pounder Caleb Willey (Towanda, Pa./Towanda Area) and junior 165-pounder Tyler Evans (Sykesville, Md./Century) each winning three matches and freshman Skylar Ebner (Muncy, Pa./Muncy Area) added two wins at 197 pounds.
 
The Warriors get back on the mat on Friday, Dec. 20, when they head to the East Coast Holiday Classic at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I. The tournament is set to start at 10 a.m.
