CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa --- Lycoming College wrestler Chris Dahlheimer finished the 2009 season in seventh place at the NCAA National Championships held over the weekend of Friday to Saturday March 6-7. This was Dahlheimer’s first trip to the event after winning the Empire Collegiate Wrestling title at 165 pounds.
In the first round, Dahlheimer pinned The College of New Jersey’s Justin Bonitatis, the No. 8 seed in 4:06 into the match. In round two, Dahlheimer met the No.1 Justin Hanson of Wartburg College, falling in a close 7-6 match. After moving to the third place bracket, Dahlheimer wrestled the No. 7 seed Jason Wozniak, taking the win 6-2.
The second round of the challenge bracket, Dahlheimer drew No. 5 Tyler Burkle of Coe College, falling 6-1. In his final match of the 2008-09 season, Dahlheimer defeated Patrick Nagle from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater 9-7.
