Wrestling finishes fourth at Ohio Northern Invitational

ADA, Ohio --- Behind a first-place finish from 165 pound senior Chris Dahlheimer, the Lycoming College wrestling team finished fourth at the Ohio Northern University Invitational. The field included 13 teams from NCAA Divisions II and III, as well as several NAIA schools. As a team, No. 22 Lycoming tallied 105.5 points.

Dahlheimer (Red Lion, Pa./Red Lion) took the championship at 165 pounds as the No. 2 seed at the tournament. In the championship bout, he defeated No. 4 Matt Curley of Heidelberg University in a 6-4 decision. In the opening round of the Invitational, Dahlheimer scored a pin in 1:54. He then scored a 13-0 major decision in the second round followed by a 5-3 decision in the quarterfinals. He won a 5-2 decision in the semifinal bout to reach the finals.

Walker Faison (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox)took third place at 125-pounds after scoring three pins and a forfeit in the wrestleback championship bracket. In the wrestleback semifinals, he scored a win by fall in 6:34. In the quarterfinals, Faison earned another fall in 2:43.

At 149-pounds, Isaiah Britton (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Twp.) picked up a 15-0 technical fall in 4:15 in his opening match. He continued to wrestle strong in the second round, scoring a 12-0 major decision. After picking up a 9-0 decision in the quartfinals, Britton was forced to forfeit his semifinal match after suffering an injury.

Junior Troy Hayre (Falls Church, Va./McLean) won his first bout at 184-pounds with a 5-2 decision, and blanked his opponent 7-0 in the second round. In the quarterfinals, he was edged in a narrow 3-2 match to No. 2 Landon Hall of Division II Limestone College.

The Warriors also picked up a fifth-place finish from Andrew Lewis (Wyalusing, Pa./Wyalusing Valley) at 133 pounds, and a seventh-place finish from Colton Eyer (Millville, Pa./Millville) at 157-pounds.

Lycoming returns to the mat on Saturday, Dec. 12 when it hosts Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference opponent SUNY-Brockport. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Recreation Center.
