Shane Rottier

Shane Rottier

After three successful seasons at Wilson College, Shane Rottier is set for his second year as the head women's basketball coach at Lycoming College in 2025-26.

Rottier is the fifth head coach in Lycoming's women's basketball's 47-year history.

Rottier posted three seasons with double-digit wins at Wilson College, the first time in school history the team achieved that, during his three seasons as head coach from 2021-24. He also helped the Phoenix reach the postseason for three straight years for the first time in program history, as three of Wilson's nine 10-win seasons came under his watch. His .532 winning percentage (41-36) is tops in program history.

Rottier coached the team to two .500 or better seasons, including posting a 16-9 record in 2022-23, when the Phoenix finished 13-5 and earned the No. 2 seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship. Throughout his tenure, he coached seven all-conference selections, one conference rookie of the year and three Academic All-District selections. The Phoenix also hosted three postseason games during his three years at the helm.

Rottier came to Wilson after three seasons as an assistant women's basketball coach at Elizabethtown College, where he helped the Blue Jays to back-to-back post-season appearances, including finishing runner-up in the Landmark Conference Championship in 2018-19. The team went 19-7 that year, as the coaching staff earned the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Rottier also served two seasons as an assistant men's basketball coach at Thaddeus Stevens College, where he served as the program's recruiting coordinator and offensive coordinator. The Bulldogs earned the program's first appearance in the conference championship in nine years in 2018. Rottier has also coached several AAU and high school teams in the Central Pennsylvania region.

Rottier received a Bachelor of Science in business administration from California Coast University in 2015 and received a Master of Arts in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University Irvine in 2017 and a Master of Science in coaching and exercise science from Concordia in 2019.

In addition to his work in higher education Rottier has nearly 20 years of professional experience in the private sector including management positions for e-commerce, online marketing, sales, and operations.

"Coach Rottier was the coach for my last two years at Wilson College. My junior year, I did not know how the season would go with a new coach. By the end of the season, I was so glad that he was my head coach. Coach Rottier allowed us to play basketball. We had plays but Coach Rottier allowed us to play within the plays. I believe his coaching allowed each player to grow and allowed us as a team to grow together. That is one thing that I liked and valued the most about Coach Rottier's coaching. Coach Rottier is a great coach and mentor!"
